Railroad officeMississippi Central Rail-Road Offices- 1852
This residence now stands on the corner of West Gholson and Craft streets, but its original location was where the First Presbyterian Church now stands, a block away across the street. The building was first used as the office for the Mississippi Central Railroad in the 1850's and moved to its present location sometime before 1860. Legend has it that this is the first and only building in Mississippi to be moved by oxen. Once the building was moved to its present location, it could not be turned around, so it was placed on the property with the front facing the back. A new front was then added.
